Dr. Baljinder Singh Heera is a Senior Researcher in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Patras, Greece. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering (Photonics) from IIT Kanpur, where he developed simulation models for dynamic RMCSA algorithms in Space Division Multiplexing (SDM)-based elastic optical networks.

Before moving to Greece, he was a Principal Project Scientist at IIT Delhi, leading a module in India’s flagship All-Optical Communication (AOC) project. His research focused on high-speed optical communication testbeds, DSP algorithms for coherent systems, and ML-based resource optimization. He has extensive experience in optical communication networks and has published his work in international journals, conferences, and book chapters.

His contributions play a crucial role in advancing next-generation optical networks, particularly in optimizing SDM technologies for future network evolution.
